On my daily evening walk today – I witnessed something that reminded me of that Good Samaritan story in the Bible.

No sooner had we begun walking than we encountered an old lady sitting on the roadside. I hadn’t even seen her because without my glasses – at night – it’s hard to notice all that surrounds me. Luckily, my heart health partner Aboubakr Mulangwa noticed the old lady sitting at our first junction as we walked. He said she didn’t look alright and seemed lost. So we decided to stop and talk to her, to make sure she was okay. Safe to say – God ordered our steps to have this opportunity to help.

She’d been sitting there for sometime to rest because her back was hurting and she was tired – having come from Church in Kibagabaga, where she’d gone this morning at 11:00am for a gathering. It’s no wonder she was exhausted – moreover she’d not eaten the whole time. When we asked where she was going, she pointed us down the street. So we decided to walk her home but in 11 minutes, she stopped us twice to rest. We insisted that we take her to the hospital but she said God will heal her but that she will go in the morning. We asked her how much further down she was going and she said it’d be a 40 minute walk. I laughed because she made it seem like it was down the street initially. Abou decided to run to the main road to get a taxi or bike to take her home while I waited with her. He came back with a bike – we got directions to her Village from a passerby. He then paid the bike taxi driver, also gave the old lady money for food and the hospital. We also took the driver’s phone number to ensure she got home safe – I was deeply touched by this act of kindness – and truly inspired!

We certainly need more good Samaritans that have the eyes to see, the heart to care enough to STOP what they are doing to help a person in need – and go the extra mile to ensure they are taken care of!

BRAVO my friend – BRAVO! May you be abundantly blessed always!
