Dare to drop the labels and see what happens. Rwanda is a good example of what can be achieved when you drop divisive labels. We have demonstrated what committed people working TOGETHER can achieve to make our Rwanda the best she can be, for ourselves and generations to come. Dropping labels has been crucial to our progress in achieving goals, and ensuring NEVER AGAIN in our beautiful Rwanda.
Prince Ea gives the most brilliant and moving spoken word I’ve heard and speaks to why labels must be done away with! Watch it here “I Am NOT Black and you are NOT White. These labels are made to divide us here”>>> https://www.facebook.com/PrinceEa/videos/10154108925139769/
Rwanda bravely did away with labels which had historically deeply divided us, culminating in genocide where one group tried to exterminate the other – to the extent that a mother was possessed to kill her own children💔. This would never have happened had it not been for labels fueled by colonizers who saw and used it as a chance to divide and conquer. Sadly our past leaders allowed it to manifest! Thankfully today, thanks to visionary leadership of President Paul Kagame, who has given everything to champion the work for great Rwanda with self reliant dignified Rwandans, we are embracing being Rwandan above all else.
Many have cried foul and stopped at nothing to attack Rwanda’s rejection of labels! They hide behind human rights claiming removal of tribal labels i.e. Tutsi/Hutu/Twa from IDs, government forms etc is denying freedom of speech. To you I say, SHAME ON YOU! Shame on you for touting human rights while ignoring that it is our RIGHT as a sovereign nation to choose what good for us. WE Rwandans have simply CHOSEN to advance the pride in being Rwandan to breed equality and make NEVER AGAIN a reality. This choice is one of the key ingredients of Rwanda’s progress inspite of genocide only 21 years ago.
To Prince Ea I say, thank you! I speak for myself and think many Rwandans will agree, removing labels can and will do a whole lot of good for society and Rwandans can attest to this. The world should heed your call and can look to the example of Rwanda in taking action against labels to nurture equality and most of all Unity.

Lucy Mbabazi. I admire ur aspirations of a greater society but again a society that does not have an identity is a lost society.
One need to know where he xomwa from in order to know where is going. That goes along with the knowledge of knowing your identity. People including you and I need to know what we are and what represents us. There is no shame being a Tutsi,TWA or Hutu for that matter.
The GoR made it a business and hides behind the wall of “Ndumunyarwanda” so that they can surpress certain group of people namely those in the ethnic Hutu. So saying that Rwandans have done away with leveled its a tales alarm if not a publicity stand you seeking. Kwihoma nibyo byishe abantu.
FYI. What type of ethnic group do you find in the prisons across the counrry? How do the gov describe those in the TIG?

1) This isn’t an article on Ndumunyarwanda but on what doing away with labels which are of no benefit to anything.
2) There’s absolutely no shame in being who we are, no one is stopping you or others to be Tutsi, Hutu or Twa. I’m sure you know what you are as does everyone, our families make sure of it. But you can’t tell me there’s value in having IDs or government documents needing to have ethnic labels – it would only create more prejudice in the workplace, services etc. Watch that video closely and hear the message. You aren’t defined by what you are or color of your skin, but rather as a human being, a Rwandan!
3) I seek to inform, never publicity, never have – never will as I’m content and happy with who are I am and where I am. You don’t have to agree with me, don’t expect many too – but at the very least you can have the sense to debate without throwing out nonsense like “seeking publicity.” You are and should be better than that.
