At the beginning of my journey in the financial sector, I heard a wise woman say something which remains at the heart of everything I do in advancing financial inclusion through digital payments.  She said,

“Everyone has the RIGHT, to have access to payment devices and financial services that are secure and convenient and reliable. And that shouldn’t be dependent upon where they live, or how much they make or what they do.”

I instantly fell in love with this work.  It is therefore my life’s mission to spend my days working and standing for this right😃🙏🏾.

I believe financial services are as basic a need as food and shelter.  For most, we need finance to advance buy food, have a roof over your head, education, healthcare – name it, you need finance i.e. money.

Question is: how many, especially youth – the majority in Africa, know the value of financial services, especially being banked and are building a relationship with a bank for growth?

Hope to answer this question in the coming days.  Feel free to suggest topics through questions you want answered.

I thank you for having the youth at the forefront of this passion to advance financial inclusion… you see, the most in need are educated youth who cant understand the basics like saving & expenses…balancing the two. Also issue of knowing how to start small (as little as 10,000 Rwf) savings to build a relationship with a financial services provider. Access to finance is the prevailing reason why entrepreneurial youth ain’t putting ideas into practice, so how do they build that relationship to be trusted and financed? Lastly, digital access to finance…mobile has helped in advancing cashless economy…the youth have to be helped to understand that 30,000 kept on mobile or on VISA card helps in not spending aimlessly unlike when the same amount is in cash on the wallet… I look forward to learning from your vast expertise…

Thank you Frank. I made a lot of mistakes because I didn’t have anyone to teach me. Now I know better and hope to save youth the same by sharing what I know. Hope it will be helpful. Entrepreneurial youth are missing out on a lot and sadly many rarely think about finance as they develop ideas. I will tackle that bank relationship and how digital payments help strengthen that relationship for better financing. Cheers.
