New law stipulates if mother goes back to work after 6weeks, they get 100% benefits otherwise 20%. So someone wakes up in the morning and thinks, it should be a good idea to cut benefits of new mothers to less than minimal, because, oh well – it’s expensive – after all they aren’t working?! What’s worse is that others join in anyud without much thought sign on, moreover women, who’ve had children or have seen their own children go through child bearing. In some cases they were or still are single mothers or worse still teen mothers!

I can’t fathom that in this day and age, where we are fighting to reduce child mortality rates – growing number of mothers still in their youth, maternity leave benefits could be cut to a miserly 20%! It is simply abominable, and I will ensure parliamentarians, especially the over 60% women MPS don’t hear the end of it! It’s bad enough that we don’t have a say in who a party chooses to represent us, now we have to deal with nonsensical laws like this one!!!!!!! I’m sure that if these people campaigned on these issues, we wouldn’t be in this predicament and it goes without saying, my respect is out the door!
