Watching President Kagame interact with citizens during his monthly Citizen Outreach, like today’s interaction with the University of Rwanda inspired this piece.
Before lecturing us about Democracy, show me a country:
- Where the President does citizen outreach every month;
- Where the President speaks and citizens trust that he is looking out for them 100%;
- Where the President puts the youth at the center of nation building;
- Where the President tells citizens to ask questions or advise him how to solve issues;
- Where the President Stands while keenly listening to each question, giving his full attention;
- Where the President has a pen and paper, noting down issues raised by citizens and follows up each and everyone of them;
- Where the President calls the responsible minister/leader in charge to explain why there is a problem and more importantly when it will be fixed;
- Where the President guarantees the issue will be resolved and it is 100% of the time;
- Where the President believes in the youth and publicly says he wants someone younger to replace him; and
- Where the President says that there should be a cut off age for the Presidency given the challenges that come with age.
A country’s people chose her path and #Rwanda is certainly on the right track because President Kagame’s LEADERSHIP is second to none!
