Success of a country begins and ends with leadership, leadership which can draw out a vision, boldly go for it and stay the course in spite of insurmountable odds. This is rare these days, especially on our continent. What I’ve witnessed in the few days at this 27th Africa Union Summit/months leading up to it, is undoubtedly a result of OUTSTANDING leadership of the Government of Rwanda. Looking at the structure of our new Radisson Blu hotel and Kigali convention center, I can’t help but be proud.
My chest swells with pride seeing the roads and rotaries (round abouts) which sprouted in a matter of weeks, done SUPERBLY. From the airport to accreditation to venue, participants are experiencing swift service provided mostly by youth/youthful Rwandans working with precision.
I’ve never experienced such drive and resolve to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, and many visitors I spoke to are in awe of what we have/are doing. One thing is for sure, without good leadership, none of this would be happening. Many of us are not happy with traffic impact, but we have a police force committed to keeping things moving. Additionally, these are temporary pains, experienced the world over when hosting this many Heads-of-State and global leaders. We should think big picture as hosting such meetings does wonders for our foreign exchange revenues because visitors bring money to spend here, God knows we need more of these meetings to grow revenues which shall be used to pay our debts and invested in more development.
May we Rwandans ALWAYS appreciate and NEVER take our great leadership for granted.

Best wishes in this journey. Kigali looks amazing and I hope it can maintain standards as it grows, the volumes increase and leaders change.
